Skill- IT’s motive as an organisation was to reach out and touch upon the lives of underprivileged children who were unable to acquire primary education. Our goal was to provide such children with opportunities in terms of holistic development by conducting sessions in life skills like communication, creative thinking, and technology.
Being the Social Outreach Executive, I was involved with reaching out to potential NGOs, managing the social media accounts, carefully planning and taking the sessions, interacting with students of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs, etc. Being actively involved in this area made me hone my communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. Managing the social media accounts made me come up with novel and creative ideas for presenting our project idea via posts, videos, and stories. It also taught me certain marketing and communication strategies to broaden our reach to people across social media.
Being a part of this Skill-IT encouraged me to gain contemporary skills as well as aided me in growing as an individual. Working as a team made us gain new experiences and opportunities while also teaching us to be resilient, rigorous, respectful, open to modern ideas, and managing time. Along the way, we had to overcome many obstacles but we were able to do so successfully as a team. I feel grateful to be part of such a noteworthy initiative and I'm eager for us to reach out to many such underprivileged children and help them lead a better life.
